Tool Certifications PDF
Softwarezertifizierung_small

"Processes lead – tools enable" is a fundamental requirement with CMII also. Ever more CMII Users are searching for the "right" software tool for their business. To make tool selection easier there are CMII-certified software tools which contain CMII functionality "out of the box" and therefore greatly reduce the customisation expense."

CMII-certified software tools in general must be capable of automating CMII principles in the tool. Depending on the amount of CMII functionality the tool contains it receives one or more "stars", up to a maximum of 5.

The detailed requirements (catalogue of criteria) of the software tools are to be found in the document “CMII Standard 400 Tool Rating Criteria" in the Download area.

The CMII Standard functionality it contains can be automated with the following types of tools:

  • Product Lifecycle Management (PLM/PDM) Tools
  • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Tools
  • Document Management Tools
  • Project Management Tools
  • Software Configuration Management Tools
  • Change Task Tracking Tools
  • Change Management Tools

If you are a provider of such a tool with the required functionality and would like to have it certified, the following requirements need to be fulfilled:

  1. Product manager or another responsible person is CMII certified (successful participation in Courses 1 to 6)
  2. The tool fulfills the 44 minimum requirements contained in the above catalogue of criteria
  3. The responsible person can show how the minimum requirements plus possibly other requirements have been implemented in the standard version (out-of-the-box) of the tool. The demonstration can take place either at GfKM in Stuttgart or at the Institute of Configuration Management (ICM) in PhoenixUSA. The first day and the CMII certification is free, additional "certification days" required will be charged at the standard daily rate for consultation (if the adequate preparation is done one day should be sufficient).

GfKM and ICM "market" the certified tools as follows:

  • The certified tool is published on the GfKM and ICM websites in the list of CMII-certified tools
  • In addition screenshots of the tool will be used in the training course material, pre-supposing that the tool provider delivers the appropriate screenshots
